My daughter randomly said to me yesterday at 7.35am "I am thinking of beef". I couldn't help but laugh at her, we were driving to school, we haven't had beef for about 3 months and the previous conversation had been about a birthday party.
Since the death of Hurricane, my kids have wanted to talk about dying ALL THE TIME! I got this today "mummy when I am 11 are you going to be dead". (I really hope not)! I am trying to talk about it with them but it is not easy to be casual about death. Especially when it gets to the subject of my own parents death. The difference between girls and boys is this, Molly-Mae "my teacher said that Hurricane has turned into an angel and now he is in heaven", Charlie "no he is not an angel, he is a dog and he is DEAD".
I can't keep up with my blog, I am way too tired. I don't get anytime to myself these days and when I do, I sleep.
I am off to New Zealand for 2 weeks to see my brother and sister-in-law and I get to see my nephew and my new niece. This is the first real holiday that we have had in years, usually I tag on to one of my husbands work trips. But this one will be different, this one neither of us will have to work. We have a layover in Sydney for 1 night - I plan on doing as much in 22 hours in Sydney as I can. My brother in law has signed me up for this http://www.canyonswing.co.nz/
but I am really not so sure, its not my thing and I am really scared that I will have a little accident or 2 if you know what I mean. Check out the underpants they sell.

hurricane's loss is still fresh...and just like you, the kids are dealing in their own way.
blogging is secondary...family first. but you know that. and although we will selfishly miss you...we know you are doing what you must. and that is good for us...and certainly good enough for me :)

Heather, I hope you have an absolutely fabulous vacation. I'm so happy for you that you all get to take a much need break TOGETHER! And hopefully this vacation will be the break the kids need too - and they won't be so focused on the D word when you get home. Relax, have fun, and PLEASE be safe - that swing looks scary as hell!!

I'm always amazed at what comes out of kids' mouths sometimes. So precious yet how do you debate death with young children? Not easy but at least they are talking about it.
