Last week I was back in Colorado for work, staying in a fairly posh hotel, well for me anyway. As part of my role I had to deliver some of our gift bags to our clients. Just as I was leaving my room the maid came in for turn down service. I picked up the bags and said to her "I'll be back in a minute". I was meeting the client by the elevator and I literally was just a minute. I walked in through the door of my room, to find my maid taking a poop on my toilet with the door OPEN!
I was a little embarrassed and started to rummage around in my stuff trying to make out I was doing something. A few minutes later she flushed the toilet, washed her hands and off she went. I wanted to shout after her "I paid for sole use of that toilet for 48 hours, I should be the only one crapping in it". I am not sure who was more embarrassed me or her! Did she really not believe me when I said I would be back in a minute or was the accent to blame once again?

That's just horrifying. Maybe it was an "emergency?" I'm so embarrassed for her. And disgusted on your behalf.
Since when is it appropriate for a housekeeper to use the bathroom in a guest room? Granted she probably cleaned it later, but still.
That is definitely unsettling, to say the least. Weird discovery. I wouldn't feel too comfortable about using that toilet after her "visit".
Oh my god. I don't even know what to say. I would have surely complained to mgmt.
If you had been longer than a minute, you may have caught her napping in your bed too!

NO! That is definitely out of order. She should not have used that toilet while you were hiring the room. You should have complained to the management, you really should. I suppose you were so shocked, you didn't know what to do. Thing is, if she did that, what else was she going to do? Hunt through your things to see what you've got? You never know, do you.
I would worry. I am worrying, OMG!

I think your story is funny. I think if it happened to me I too would be embarrassed but I don't think it should be anything to loose sleep over. Disgusting no I don't think so, now if she was making your dinner and didn't wash her hands that’s another matter. Also she is in rooms cleaning the bathrooms all day, it just seems stupid that she would have to go to another area of the hotel to use a toilet as she is right beside one. But really when you get down to it if you got to go, you got to go!

groossss....but i think the really gross or unsettling part was that the door was left open...if she had the door shut it would not have embarrased you so much...i asked my daughter...who works as a room attendant at a very classy hotel what she would do...and she said never ever ever if the room is being used....once they have signed out no biggy though...so there you have it...

You would think she would at least borrow the toilet first and clean it second? Shudder.
I don't know what to say. I am going to believe that this was an emergency. And if we start to think about just how many people have done the same thing in that toilet day after day, we could never leave our homes. Best to laugh it off. What a great story!
That's too awful. Is it too late to complain to management... maybe it would help ensure that future occupants have sole use of the toilet.
Oh crap! LOL At least she wasn't napping in your bed...or was she? You never know what goes on when you are not there. WHen we were on vacation everytime the maid came in their was this weird chemical smell. I did wonder if she was slowly poisoning us.
Oh how embarrassing for the both of you! I think I would have finished mid-poop and ran out the door! lol
